Woolrich at 70

JOHN’S BOX

To celebrate his 70th birthday John Woolrich, the composer and artistic director, who has lived in Folkestone for several years, invited me to fill one of the eleven boxes he had acquired for ten other artists to fill however way we all wished, as part of his exhibition he called “A World in a Box, a kind of imaginary museum.

This was to run alongside the weekend-long music celebration called “Here is my Country” which showcased his chamber and ensemble works and other music he loves which ran from 19th-21st July 2024 at The Grand.

This is just the kind of challenge I love, collaborating with another artist to create something remarkable and meaningful, hopefully.

I have to admit I found it quite difficult to find small works relevant to what I thought would be suitable.

Here is some of the work I chose.
